New Silhouette Underwear

Feb 20 2012 03:35 PM

I just noticed the thing on the Depend.com main page about the new Depend Silhouette underwear. It says it's coming out in April, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen it sold early in their area? I'm really intrigued about how these will compare to the regular underwear. The one thing I'm really hoping for is a smaller and lower waistband. I find the current style rides up above my bellybutton and sticks out my pants, which at least with the colored designs isn't as bad.

I have seen "samples" included with other underwear. I have looked for the mens and only found them in the wrong size. Look at the smaller packages ( 16 - 18 count) of womens underwear and see if they include a sample. I have seen them at CVS.

I just wanted to post that I got some of the new silhouette underwear a few days ago and WOW are they good. They are so much more of an "underwear-like" product in terms of fit and look. I am a younger person (28) dealing with urinary incontinence and I can say that when I first put one on, more confidence is the first thing that came to mind.

Yesterday when my friend and I were at the gym in the changing room I had my pants down to just above the absorbent pad on the underwear and my friend said "oh, you're wearing underwear and not you're normal depends". I then removed the pants and she realized they were depends, and she was really impressed in the new product.

They are about as close to underwear as you can get. Obviously they have the absorbent pad in the crotch, put other than that are underwear, so bending over and the underwear slipping up is not an issue. I've only had a few medium sized accidents in them so far, but they have held well. I don't think they can hold too much more, but they aren't intended to be complete diapers holding multiple or large wettings. I think the color is only in peach, which is ok, but a few more designs and colors would make them even better.

I got a pair in the regular package of depends that I wear and so far I love 'em. Softer, more real underwear feel inside and out. No paper crinkle sound. All that gathering is gone. They are nice and smooth. Unfortunately, Jennifer, the waistband isn't any lower. I, too, would like that. I'm short and short waisted even for my height and the dang things come up nearly to my bra. No, I'm not exaggerating. Especially along the sides. Really, I don't see why Depend can't cut a couple inches off the height. Average and taller women would still be comfortable and us shorter women would benefit greatly!

I received a sample pair in my recent purchase and love them. What a pleasant surprise when I slept in them last night...they stayed put and moved with me when turning from side to side. Can't wait for them to be available for purchase.

I currently use the XL(48-64) womens briefs and I like them alot. I am in a wheelchair, but still can dress myself,I am a very independent lady. I like the feel and the give in the new Silhoutte, but I am hoping you can make them in the same size as the ones I now use, maybe other full figure women would like that as well. Thank You.

Re: New Silhouette Underwear

Mar 08 2012 03:57 PM

I HATE having to wear adult diapers, so the thought of ever writing a 'fan' letter for them would not have been believable to me before today. However, yesterday I got a package of Depends and there was a sample of the Silhouette briefs in them. I tried the sample and I am in shock! I LOVE THEM!! In the past, no matter what brand of adult protection I tried, I had the same problem. If I bought them in my size, the 'elastic' around the legs would rub and give me a very painful rash. If I bought them a size larger so that the leg openings were loose, then I'd have problems with leakage . It has been just awful! The Silhouette was SO comfortable. The legs fit tightly, without hurting me or causing a rash. The crotch stayed in place. I had NO leaks at all. The panty was so soft and comfortable and felt more like 'real' panties than anything I've ever tried -- and, believe me, I have tried them all! I went to three drugstores today, looking for the Silhouettes -- I did not read the coupon carefully, so I did not realize that they will not be on sale until April. Is there any way to order them online? I am SO anxious to get more! The Silhouette is now the gold standard in adult protection.
Thank you!

The last package of Depends I bought had a sample of the new Silhouette and I just tried them today. I am not happy with them at all, the feel is ok, but the size really isn't, plus the back ripped as soon as I put them on. I have to buy the XL size of depends and the Silhouette sample was marked L/XL, and they barely fit. These may work if you have the larger size but please don't combine the sizes, they don't fit.

yes, I am a male, but this is where I found a moderator, so I am going to post here. A true apology to those who may not appreciate it, but I am just trying to get my message through to the company. Depend brand is the most common name in bladder control products, yet you fail to produce a product that will actually contain urine for any period of time. I am partially incontinent during the day, and have a complete loss at night. Night voiding is simply not an option with your product. They are not nearly absorbent enough, and during the day I constantly have to check to see if I need to change. Will you PLEASE make a more suited product for overnight use that I can actually buy in a store?!? I don't expect a forum moderator to change the world, but maybe you can put a word in to the people who design the products? I hope? Anyways, thanks for putting up with this rant, and all the best to all!

I received some of the new underwear, and thought that maybe Depends had finally got it right. I noticed it said maximum protection, but it did not contain a very wide crotch area and lacked leak guards. After experiencing wet pants at home from wearing these underwear, I say depends you need to go back to the drawing board. Or at least change your packaging to say for light incontinence. I guess I will keep giving Abri Form my business.

Re: New Silhouette Underwear

Mar 20 2012 11:52 AM

I didn't see anything mention of Silhouette on what was a new/updated Depend product I just bought, so guess it isn't out yet, as this last package stated only it was "peach" Depends for Women (Size XL, high max absorption), and I thought they looked nice. There was a free sample incuded in separate packing on top of the regular package. However, upon trying the sample, the material--especially between the pad area and the waist--is extremely weak and tore before I even got them on. And they were also two inches below my waist. As a 5'10", overweight, 72 yr-old woman, I still believe in and use the "natural" waistline (for underwear and slacks), instead of the immodest lower, bikini style underwear. A few years back, while in the hospital for kidney stone removal, the nurses brought me a nice, large Depend pant that fit so nice and protected so well, that I have used them ever since. Sometimes I only use a pad, like Poise max, when troubles are not too bad. Other times if I'm sick and/or have a bad cough, I need to put a pad inside the Depend to get me through the night without leakage due to coughing and jarring my insides so much, especially the bladder. I feel like instead of progressing here, we are going back in time. I know there are thousands of older, heavier women like me, who need the waist high, stronger built Depend--like the white ones I've used in the past. I don't know what I am going to do now with these "newer models." The old white ones were durable, especially since I am a frequent urinator and have to be pulling them up and down many times in just one day (and throughout the night). If we have to depend (no pun intended) upon manufacturers to fill our needs, why do the products have to be narrowed to seemingly address the preferences of just smaller and younger women? Why can't the company continue to provide the waist-high, stronger materialed item, as well as the newer styles preferred by other women? And the colors are nice, but not a necessity for me. The important criteria for me is comfortable fitting and durable, with maximum absorbency. Why can't we have more choices? For me there is no choice here if there are only the "new" kind now availalbe, even though the larger sizes have been/are available. I want back the white ones made with material that will last longer hours, as before, and won't tear while I'm trying to put them on. (And I see some of the cheaper brands are doing the same copycat thing, and doing away with the better built pant. For now, I'm going to have to return the new, unused package to Walmart for a refund. If the older style is available at other stores, or online, I would appreciate knowing about it. Thanks.

Re: Sizing on New Silhouette Underwear

Mar 23 2012 12:21 AM

I have to agree about the back of the new garment ripping when you pull them on. Probably because of the snugger fit. Perhaps a design change could be made to reinforce the top part of the waistband, particularly in the middle. Otherwise I like the product. If I were any larger though the new sizing would not fit at all. Perhaps making a slightly larger version for us XL folks who buy the regular XL product is needed. I also hope you do not plan to discontinue the regular product I have been using. I know of many caregivers who are perfectly happy with the regular product and may want to use the silhouette product for special occasions when their client is going out, but not for everyday.

Having a neighbor and a niece with toddlers, and only being a recent secret user of Depends, I came up with a couple of new names for the product.

Pull ups for adults

The ultimate granny pants.

The first name would have more application.
I used to use Poise Pads for my stress incontinence that occured after a hysterectomy. But there were times when that just was not reliable and accidents would occur. I have found that Depends are just that dependable, and I have much more freedom in my daily busy activities as a result.

Re: Sizing on New Silhouette Underwear

I have yet to see them in the store...but have not needed anything yet. I am sure it is like most other designs / sizes as it will take time to determine exactly which size fits each person. I know I went through many trials and errors before I found the right product and size for me. I am sure this new product will be the same case. What I hate the most is when I do find a product that works for my body contour, the manufacturer makes a change.....then it is back to starting all over again......
