Something about the motion of a car

May 14 2012 03:54 AM

It never fails how I can feel fine and then when I get in a car I have to have a bm. Even if right before the ride I had one and felt empty. I have messed in more diapers while in a moving car than any other time.

I have a similar problem on the ride home from the gym. I drink a lot of water at the gym. I empty out before leaving the gym but the leaking happens away. I asked my Dr. about this problem, he could not give me answer why this would happen.

I have a similar problem. I will void as much as I can before getting into a car for a ride. I'm ok, for the most part, but when I stop and get out of the car I will start to leak in my diaper. I never take a car ride without wearing protection.

washing dishes does this to my bladder. I can be ( I think) totally empty in my bladder. I start the hot water and by the time I am half way done with a sink load of dishes, I am soaking my diaper. It is so odd?

Just jumping into the car for 5-1/2 hour ride. Got my depend and plastic pants, and ready to roll!

Hopefully I will make it mostly to the rest areas.

I know where you're coming from, Magicdp. Before I owned up to the fact I had to wear protection for any peace of mind, the thought of a long car ride with who knew how far apart the rest stops were was in itself terrifying. Now it's no problem as I wear something reliable. Of course long car trips are no problem because with the price of gas, there are no long car trips for me anymore!!!

Made it ok. Return trip Saturday evening, Nearly 300 miles each direction. The last rest stop before the destination was the worst. It was literally running like a leaky faucet when I pulled it out to go. Dribbled down the outside of my shorts and leg in the process. Might have been better off just using the diaper totally instead of trying to hold it to the rest stop, then using the rest stop to change the diaper.

I am in an adjustment/learning process.

The motel bed has no plastic guard under the sheet so I am wearing a real fit to bed just in case.

Just out of curiosity, what do motel chains do if you ruin a bed by wetting it? Do they charge for the cost of the mattress, or chalk it up to the cost of doing business? I am wearing a Depend because I don't want to find out the hard way!

For me there doesn't seem to be anything special about riding in a car. The way my urge incon works, my bladder will almost always empty itself uncontrollably any time I get up after sitting down or lying down for a prolonged period (anything over 30 to 45 minutes).

With regard to the question about motels and hotels, I think they mostly treat wet beds as something that happens from time to time and do not bill customers for the cost of cleaning or replacing a mattress. Years ago when I was wearing cloth diapers that were more prone to leak at night than the high-capacity disposables I now wear, I used to take a washable underpaid with me and use it in hotel rooms. And so that it would stay under me and not be displaced when I tossed and turned, I would place the underpaid underneath the top bed sheet. When putting the underpaid in place, I found quite a few hotel and motel mattresses with spots on them indicating that some previous user had wet the bed. And on the very few occasions when I wet a mattress, i was not charged any damages.

"Trains, planes and automobiles" always put me to sleep, so any hint of an extended time as a passenger has me protected ahead of time. It only took one accident many years ago to make me promise to myself that I'd never risk it again. Now I don't think twice about dozing off.
